15 months & a fracture

Thomas broke his leg yesterday and got a full-leg cast today!

THE STORY...  We were at Changepoint Church in Anchorage and the kids had a ton of fun on the slide as we waited for Tom and the Building Committee to get done with their tour.  Thomas went down many times with Ella and myself and giggled the entire time...just couldn't get enough. All three kiddos went down at once and none of us really know what happened from there.  I was coming down the stairs, so didn't see the landing.  We knew something was wrong when we got home and he refused to walk.  This morning we went in to the orthopediatric (I think this is what he's called??!!) Dr. He sent us right to x-rays, which Thomas wasn't real impressed with at all.  I couldn't hold him as I'm pregnant, but thank goodness Dad was there for comfort.  When the dr. reviewed the x-rays, he told me, "You were right on, mom...didn't need a dr. to diagnose this one!"  (I had told him when we got there that I thought it was a hairline fracture or something of the type since there was no brusing or swelling) Anyway, this scored him big points in my book:) Ha!  Tom helped put the cast on him since he was quite wiggly and we were on our way home by noon.  Thomas fell asleep in the car and napped for 5 hours!  Poor little man was wiped out.  He is frustrated that he can't walk or move real well, but I'm sure he'll figure out some unique form of getting around in time.  The cast stays on 4-5 weeks.  It is strange to have him sit for such long periods of time.  Tonight, he colored in his chair while the girls did their homework and then tried playdough for the first time.  Did great with both.  He was 15 months old yesterday...Here's to the continued adventures of parenthood!

We feel bad for Thomas, hope it won't bother him too much.

Happy Birthday Dolly,

It's too bad we can't be there in person like last year. That sure was a fun trip!

I hope Thomas is getting used to his cast. What a bummer! Give the kids a hug from Minnesota!
