goodbye tar

Tar died this week by my bedside. We had him for 9 years and he was a great family dog. We won't miss your drool slobber marks on our pants or your crazy shedding in January & August, but we will miss the rest of you, Tar!
Tar was so patient with the kids.
One of his favorite pastimes was diving, that's right DIVING, for logs down by the lake!
And probably his most favorite pastime....belly rubs! This last one is a day before Owen's birthday in May. Tar LOVED the lake and would always escort us on canoe rides.

Awww! I just about shed a tear reading this (that says a lot coming from a non-pet lady). I'm just not going to tell the boys. I think we'll just pretend he's still over there, faithfully keeping an eye on the Smith property and sweetly enduring the rough love of toddlers and preschoolers.

So sorry Smiths! I know how hard it is to lose a pet... they become such a special part of your family! I'm glad you have these sweet pictures to remember Tar! Hugs from MT to all of you!

Wow, Pam. Just reading this one. I know you and Tom "felt" this coming. But, it can't have been easy. My heart goes out to you all. Sweet Tar.

Bummer! I really like Tar. Sorry! Maybe now it is time to get rabbits! They don't swim real well but they don't drool!
